On behalf of the elite media, I would like to say we are very sorry. We have asked questions this week that we should never have asked. We have asked pathetic questions like: Who is Sarah Palin? What is her record? Where does she stand on the issues? And is she is qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency?

Video of the day: Campbell Brown of CNN asks McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds a simple question
that he decides not to (or maybe can’t) answer. I had the pleasure of witnessing this exchange live and
it made my day.

As a footnote, McCain canceled an appearance on Larry King Live because of this exchange, which
the McCain campaign apparently believes was “over the line”. (via Gawker)

I think about whether that person who I select would be most prepared to take my place. And that would be the key criteria.

A surreal picture of Sarah Palin on the NYT homepage. Did she kill both the bear and the crab? Is this what the vice-president’s office will look like? (edit 8/30: updated with a closer view of the photo. Photo credit - Anchorage Daily News/MCT—Landov)

Video of the Day: No End in Sight trailer. Two colleagues of mine edited this fantastic documentary,
and a couple weeks ago I helped them make some changes to the trailer, the final product of which is
embedded above.

But the real news is that this Academy Award-nominated film will be shown in its entirety on YouTube
from September 1st to November 5th.

If anything can persuade one that we don’t need four more years of Republicans in the White House,
this film could do it.

JULY 3: Scarlett came to me today with one of those questions actors ask, “What’s my motivation?” I shot back, “Your salary.” She said fine but that she needed a lot more motivation to continue. About triple. Otherwise she threatened to walk. I called her bluff and walked first. Then she walked. Now we were rather far apart and had to yell to be heard. Then she threatened to hop. I hopped too, and soon we were at an impasse. At the impasse I ran into friends, and we all drank, and of course I got stuck with the check.
